My husband surprised me with a trip to Barcelona for our 5th wedding anniversary in 2014.  The hotel Gary had booked for us was the Torre Catalunya and the suite we were given was so lovely.  I’d highly recommend staying here.

What did we get up to in Barcelona?

The first night, we had arrived quite late in the evening and after a mild mishap with getting off the bus, we got to the hotel.   We rested up, drank the champagne that the hotel had put in the room for us and got up early the next morning.  It was an amazing trip.  The couple of days we had there, we tried our absolute best to fit in as much as possible.  So, we thought the best thing to get was a 2 day sightseeing pass for the bus.  On the first full day, we took the bus up to Camp Nou.  There is so much to see there alone, it is well worth a visit if you can go to Barcelona.  If you get a chance, take the cable car as well, because the views are incredible.

The second day we went to L’Aquarium Barcelona, took a long walk along Icària Beach and got a glimpse at the Sagrada Familia.  We even tried to catch the light and fountain display at the Magic Fountain of Montjuïc but it took so long to start that we had to head back for dinner but when it eventually started, we could see it from the hotel.
