Whenever I get a chance to go to Edinburgh for photography, I jump at the chance. Maybe this is because with living in Glasgow, I never get through to Edinburgh as much as I’d like. Larissa and Alexander found me through a recommendation, which is a huge compliment. They were having their ceremony in February which would later be followed up by a big party in April. If you would like to see that, I’ve linked it here. So not only was I going to be photographing their ceremony, but I would be coming back to photograph a second photo shoot and the huge party they would be throwing.
They had their family there to help them celebrate their marriage and then we took a little walk on to Edinburgh’s Royal Mile. It is a daunting experience for anyone to walk out on the Royal Mile when you’re in your wedding outfits. People (i.e tourists) are going to notice. So when one person started to take photos we moved in to the courtyard behind St Giles Cathedral just to get a little privacy.
The Ceremony
The most special part of this particular wedding was that Larissa & Alexander opted to walk in to the ceremony together! It is the first time I’ve seen that being done and it felt so special. It’s cool to break away from a bit of tradition sometimes and do your own thing. I’ll be doing another blog post with the photos from the reception at the Ghillie Dhu, which features another couple shoot that we did in some private gardens. In the meantime, I hope you like this little selection of photos that I’ve chosen.
