When my cousin Lesley came home to visit from Australia, she was really keen for her daughter to have a birthday photo shoot when she turned one. I love that I am able to offer this skill to family members, and Lesley is always so nice to ask for a shoot to document certain stages of her family’s life.
Use Pinterest for Photoshoot Inspiration
So for this particular session, I set up a simple little backdrop. We had had a chat beforehand to see what Lesley had in mind. She had the idea to put her daughter Juliette in to her wedding dress for some of the photos. It was something that she had seen on Pinterest so we decided to give it a go. I’ve said this before, but Pinterest is such a great resource for figuring out what style of photography you like. Adding your favourites to a board and sharing with your photographer before the shoot is really helpful. You can always then chat with your photographer to make sure that they are able to provide what you’re looking for and you are both on the same page.
Go the Extra Mile
Lesley’s wedding dress was beautifully handmade my her mum. How special is that? Being able to have that connection captured is something else. Juliette was a little smiley dream. So here is a look at her first birthday photo session.
