The Winter Gardens at Glasgow Green, has to be one of my all-time favourite venues to photograph a wedding at. There is a lot of history to this particular building. For example, it was built to be a culture centre for those in the most overcrowded and poorest part of Glasgow. You can check out Doulton Fountain right in front of the People’s Palace. It has been in Glasgow Green since 1890. There was also a cat that lived at the People’s Palace in the 80s to keep “small unwelcome visitors” at bay.
Jessica & Luke’s ceremony was held right in the middle of all the lush botanical greens in the Winter Gardens. I loved how the ceremony was set up. Having the plants surround them made it feel so intimate. Even with a large number of guests. It rained on the day, we were able to utilize the space indoors and get some photos in the greenery.
The Winter gardens was actually closed for almost a year while repairs were being carried out. It was a huge shame, but absolutely necessary. There were some structural issues that needed to be addressed, so hopefully it is all back to normal now.
Here is a little slideshow of their day.
